Fitspott came across a rather concerning story on AOL regarding a new issue joining the list of top 10 most searched childrens health topics. According to the story, here are the top searched children's health topics on AOL search:
1. ADD/ADHD
2. Leukemia
3. Head Lice
4. Constipation
5. Strep Throat
6. Impetigo
7. Scoliosis
8. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
9. Type 1 Diabetes
10. Childhood Obesity

I find it interesting that both #1 and #10 are issues that can be positively affected by exercise. As I moved a little further into the book Spark - The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain by John J. Ratey, which I mentioned a previous post, I learned how effective exercise can be to treat ADD/ADHD. Much more than I had previously thought.
The deeper we delve into the issue of childhood obesity the more we realize how advances in technology are only making this problem worse. With that said, we are quite encouraged by the amount of new companies that are popping up with products and services targeting this epidemic.
